I was having some issues with my new ebay triggers and 430EX. I would get a number of random flashes from the receiving unit even though the transmitter was not firing.
After doing some research online, I found two fixes that seem to really help.
First I extended the antenna on the receiver (you can also extend the antenna on the transmitter). You need just a hair under 6.1" of wire.
You solder it to the lower antenna point on the receiver.
This allowed me to trigger the flash from over 50ft away without any issues. I could likely go further, but I have not tested yet.
